NORTH AMERICAN BABYDOLL SOUTHDOWN SHEEP ASSOCIATION AND REGISTRY
Start your day with a SMILE! Own a BABYDOLL
How to fill out a NABSSAR Open Registry Form
First of all, make sure the sheep you intend to register meet the breed standard. Visit the NABSSAR Breed Standards Page for
more information.
http://nabssar.org/breed_standard_with_photos.html
Any sheep not meeting the NABSSAR breed standard are NOT eligible for registration.

Only Sheep meeting the following requirements will be considered for registration with the Open Registry.
Category #1: A Babydoll Southdown sheep currently registered in another Babydoll Southdown registry.
Category #2: A  Southdown sheep currently registered in any Southdown Society or Registry that meets the Babydoll Southdown Breed standard.
Category #3: Unregistered Babydoll Southdown that can show convincing evidence of being a purebred Babydoll Southdown.

STEP ONE, TAKE PHOTOS TO MAIL WITH YOUR APPLICATION:
With each category that your sheep my be applied to, along with your Open Registry Application, you must submit 4
photos of your sheep. One photo of each side, one photo of front and one photo of rear. Be sure to get good clear
photos and close up photos with the entire sheep in the photo. Do not take photos with your sheep way off in a
pasture or standing over them. The sheep must be seen at their level to be inspected. Examples below of the type of
photo you should and should not send in for inspection. Be sure to either include a measurement in one of the
photos, or take a seperate photo showing the height of your sheep.
For photos of each side, front, and back you can take a picture in the pasture, put your sheep on
a stand, or have your sheep tied. Try your best to get a complete side shot of the entire sheep in
the side photos. For best photos kneel down and get at ground level with your sheep so your
sheep can be pictured at it's best.
EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE PHOTOS TO SUBMIT
UNACCEPTABLE PHOTOS
Unacceptable photos are when people
take the photo standing over the
sheep and not down at their level, at
angles where the sheep can not be
visually seen over all, shadows in the
photo, taken with a group of sheep, or
when sheep are way out in the pasture
and can not be clearly seen. Photos
submitted like these will be returned
and you will be asked to submit more
photos of your sheep.
Photos must be clear and without
shadows or blurring.
Remember! You will need to have a measurement of your sheep showing in one of
the photos. You can use a measuring stick, or yard stick but make sure measurement
can be read in the photo! You can take a piece of yarn or black tape and mark the
24" spot on your measuring stick if numbers are small and hard to read in photo.
